Gigabyte AORUS XTREME WATERFORCE Overview
Supercharge your computer build with the GIGABYTE X299X Aorus Xtreme Waterforce DDR4 LGA 2066 XL-ATX Motherboard. Designed for content creators, professionals, and enthusiasts with support for Intel LGA 2066 socket processors, this motherboard is designed to utilize all 48 PCI express lanes of the Intel X299 chipset. It takes full advantage of the PCIe 3.0 data bandwidth to deliver high performance for tasks such 3D rendering, video editing, and more. The XL-ATX motherboard also includes a water cooling system that covers the CPU, VRM, SSD, and PCH areas for maximum heat dissipation.
Up to 256GB of quad-channel non-ECC DDR4 RAM, reaching 4333 MHz when overclocked, can be installed across eight memory slots. Additionally, the motherboard supports up to two Intel Optane-enhanced M.2 SSDs and eight SATA III storage drives. The included AORUS Gen4 AIC Adaptor allows you to install four additional M.2 solid-state drives using a PCIe slot. The drives can be put into RAID 0, 1, 5, or 10 configurations with Intel VROC optimization for supported PCIe NVMe SSDs.
Its dual three-way wide PCIe 3.0 x16 slots can accommodate 2-Way and Quad-GPU NVIDIA SLI or AMD CrossFire configurations to maximize your system’s graphical capabilities for high frame rates, connecting 4K monitors, and faster video rendering times. Connect compatible peripherals to the two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports to transfer data at up to 10 Gb/s. Two internal USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C headers are also available. Additionally, the X299X AORUS XTREME WATERFORCE includes two Thunderbolt 3 ports that that can daisy chain multiple devices such as external monitors and storage drives and transfer data at up to 40 Gb/s.
The motherboard is equipped with two ALC1220-VB audio codecs, both of which are paired with ESS SABRE 9218 DAC chips to deliver deep and immersive DTS:X Ultra 7.1-channel surround sound through the front and rear audio ports. Other features include fast internet connections via the wired Intel Gigabit and Aquantia 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, which operate alongside the built-in 802.11ax Wi-Fi that is designed to deliver wireless speeds of up to 2.4 Gb/s. You can customize your computing experience using the addressable RGB headers to connect light strips, which can be synced with other Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0-compatible peripherals such as mice and keyboards using the desktop software or mobile app. The exclusive AORUS RGB Fan Commander module is included with the motherboard, which adds independently controlled hybrid fan headers and addressable RGB LED headers with speed and lighting patterns to your system. Windows 10 64-bit is required to take advantage of all the motherboard’s features.
AORUS All-in-One Monoblock
The included water cooler is designed to cover the CPU, VRM, SSD, and PCH areas and features high density copper fins and a highly conductive thermal pad for fully optimized heat dissipation. There is a leak detection circuit around the entire monoblock that will automatically shut down the system in the event of a leak. Other features include a solid-plate back to prevent motherboard warping and its own addressable RGB LED lighting effects.
Enhanced Cooling Design
- The noise detection function provides real-time monitoring for devices such as CPU coolers, graphics cards, and more, allowing you to determine how fast your fans need to be and customize your system accordingly.
- Smart Fan 5 allows users to interchange fan headers to correspond with the thermal sensors located across the motherboard so that the system stays cool while maintaining a high level of performance for games and other demanding applications.
- Fan Stop lets you to take control of your computer’s noise level by allowing specified fans to halt when the system drops to a designated temperature level. These settings may be customized according to your preferences.
- Hybrid Fan Headers automatically detect the connected liquid- or air-cooling systems, enabling Smart Fan 5 to monitor information such as flow-rate.
- A Noise Detection function allows you to monitor the level of noise produced by the system’s devices, including the CPU cooler, graphics card, and more, allowing you to address potential problems.

Thunderbolt 3

USB 3.2 Gen 2
Doubling the speed of its predecessor, USB 3.2 Gen 2 features a maximum throughput of 10 Gb/s when used with compatible devices.
USB TurboCharger
The front USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connector is enhanced with Gigabyte’s USB TurboCharger technology, which is designed to recharge QC 3.0-compatible Android devices and Apple Fast-Charge devices up to 50% in less than 30 minutes.
